Power Authority Appoints Schriver Regional Manager for Northern New York

The New York Power Authority has announced the appointment of Allen D. Schriver as Regional Manager for Northern New York and the top local official at its St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project in Massena.

He succeeds Randy D. Crissman, who was appointed Regional Manager for Western New York and based at the Power Authority’s Niagara Power Project in Lewiston. Both appointments are effective Jan. 5, 2004.

The appointments were announced by Robert A. Hiney, executive vice president of project operations.

“Randy Crissman and Allen Schriver provide a wealth of knowledge about our hydroelectric plants and enormous experience in all aspects of their operations,” said Hiney. “They have been deeply involved with ongoing life extension and modernization programs at both projects.”

The Power Authority is investing about $500 million in upgrading and modernizing the two facilities.

Schriver joined the Power Authority in 1985 as an Electric Engineer. He was promoted to Electrical Supervisor in 1989, later became a Test Engineer in the Instrument and Control (I&C) department, and was named Senior Operations Engineer in 1998. In  April 2001 he was appointed Operations Superintendent at St. Lawrence-FDR.

During much of 2002 and 2003, Schriver was on a temporary assignment as Operations Superintendent at the Niagara Project. While there, he helped develop and implement a new operator training program, helped streamline equipment clearance procedures and worked with others to increase the plant’s turbine generators in daily operation.

Upon his return to St. Lawrence-FDR, and prior to being named Regional Manager, he served as Resident Construction Manager for the $250 million Life Extension and Modernization program (LEM) underway at the project.

Schriver is a graduate of Penn State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He earned his masters degree in EE at the University of Massachusetts. He is a licensed professional engineer.

Schriver lives in Massena with his wife Elizabeth and four children –Michael, Jonathan, Christina and Katherine.
