FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MASSENA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will
sponsor a free evening featuring a concert of patriotic music and a
magnificent fireworks display, on Saturday June 7, at Massena’s Springs
Park as the culmination of the Massena Heritage Festival. The 10th
Mountain Division Band from Fort Drum will perform beginning at 7 pm
with a fireworks display set for dusk from Bushnell Field.
“The Power Authority is pleased, during this time of
year when patriotic spirits run high, to sponsor this special family
event celebrating the rich history of Massena and our nation,” said Bob
Hadler, community relations regional manager, New York Power Authority.
The musicians of the 10th Mountain Division Band are
the official musical ambassadors of the United States Army’s 10th
Mountain Division (Light Infantry) and Fort Drum. Led by commander and
bandmaster, Chief Warrant Officer Two Jeffry C. Larson, the Band’s 40
members are professional soldiers, trained to perform as musicians and
as a battlefield security force as necessary. The Band is composed of
several ensembles including the Ceremonial Band, Concert Band, Rock Band
Jazz Combo, Dixieland Band and Brass and Woodwind Quintets.
In the event of rain, the Concert will be held in
the Massena High School Auditorium.
The New York Power Authority operates the St.
Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project here. For more information
