FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MASSENA — The New York Power Authority will be installing new rip-rap on the river side of some dikes that are part of the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project here.

Work is expected to begin this week on the Richards Landing Dike just west of the Massena Town Beach. About 25 to 30 trucks a day are expected to operate during the daylight hours, Monday through Friday. The trail that leads onto the Richards Landing Dike will be closed for the remainder of the year. It will reopen in the spring, but will again be closed when work on the dike resumes next summer.

Work is also expected to begin on the Long Sault Dike later this year.

In total, the work on the dikes will be underway during late summer and early fall for the next three years.
