FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LEWISTON – Portions of the Robert Moses State Parkway
and Lewiston Road where they cross the Robert Moses Niagara Power Plant will
be temporarily closed beginning September 10.
Workers will be conducting the annual cleaning of
drainage inlets along the two roads. The specific dates, times and roadways
to be affected are cited below:
On Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, the Southbound Robert Moses Parkway will be
closed between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. This will involve closing the
southbound parkway at three entrances, one off Center Street in the Village of Lewiston, one along the Robert Moses
Southbound Parkway, just south of the Rt. 104 West exit ramp and the other from Upper Mountain Road Extension, west of Mount St. May’s Hospital. Traffic will be detoured to Rt.
104 west. Contractor personnel will be at each closure point to allow
emergency personnel access if necessary. The southbound parkway will
re-open to traffic by 3p.m. on September 10th.
On Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, the Northbound Robert Moses Parkway will be
reduced to one lane through the affected area between the hours of 9
a.m. and 3 p.m.
On Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002 the two northbound
lanes of Lewiston Road (Route 104) will be re-routed to one lane northbound
along the west side of Lewiston Road.
On Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 the two southbound lanes of Lewiston Road
(Route 104) will be re-routed to one lane southbound along the east side of
Lewiston Rd.
A Sign Board has been placed along the southbound parkway informing
motorists of the scheduled closure of the southbound parkway on Sept. 10th
from 9am to 3pm.
Work is expected to be completed by Friday, Sept. 13, 2002.
