Minority Purchasing Council Presents Annual Award To Power Authority

WHITE PLAINS—The New York/New Jersey Minority Purchasing Council named the New York Power Authority as recipient of its prestigious Chairpersons of the Year Award for 2001 at its Partnerships Awards Gala Friday evening at the Sheraton New York Hotel.
In announcing the award, Lynda Ireland, president of the council, said, "This award is presented to the Power Authority for having demonstrated great dedication and exemplary service to furthering the cause of minority business development."
Joseph J. Seymour, chairman and chief executive officer of the Power Authority, said, "An award of this nature reflects positively on the dedication of the Power Authority's procurement staff in creating business opportunities for minority and women-owned firms. I'm gratified that the efforts we make, under the direction of Governor Pataki, insure opportunities for minority businesses to thrive and grow."
The award itself was presented to Debra White, the administrator for the supplier diversity program, and to John M. Hoff, the Power Authority's vice president of procurement and real estate. Last year, the same organization presented White with a pair of awards, "Advocate of the Year" and "Westchester Section of the Year— Chairperson Award."
