Power Authority Provides Funds for Emergency Services

MASSENA—The New York Power Authority is donating almost $37,000 to providers of emergency services in the areas near its St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project here. Contributions this year are being made to 40 local organizations including volunteer fire departments, rescue squads, the American Red Cross and Massena Memorial Hospital.
"Our staff members at St. Lawrence-FDR and their families, as well as our neighbors in the North Country, rely on the vital emergency services these dedicated volunteer units provide," said Joseph J. Seymour, chairman and chief executive officer of the Power Authority. "Many of these organization’s volunteers also work at our project, so as part of Governor Pataki’s initiatives to make New York a better, safer place to live, we take special interest in helping them maintain an up-to-date state of readiness."
The contribution to the Massena Volunteer Fire Department will be made, on behalf of Chairman Seymour, by Robert Hadler, community relations manager for the Power Authority, at the department’s annual dinner held Saturday evening (Oct.13).
Donations were made to: Altona Volunteer Fire and Rescue; Beekmantown Volunteer Fire Department; Burke Volunteer Fire Department; Cadyville Volunteer Fire Department; Canton Volunteer Fire and Rescue; Chateaugay Volunteer Fire and Rescue; Churubusco Volunteer Fire and Rescue; Colton Volunteer Fire and Rescue; Constable Volunteer Fire and Rescue; Croghan Volunteer Fire Department; Cumberland Head Volunteer Fire Department; Edwards Volunteer Fire and Rescue.

A donation to the Massena Memorial Hospital was presented in May during the hospital’s annual fund drive.
