LISBONThe New York Power Authority (NYPA) Wednesday contributed $10,000 to the Lisbon Bicentennial Celebration. The donation was presented by Robert Hadler, the Power Authoritys community relations manager for Northern New York, to Lisbon Town Supervisor Roger A. Watters, at Town Hall.
"The Power Authority and the Town of Lisbon have a long history together, so it is only fitting, on behalf of Chairman Joseph J. Seymour, the other trustees and the staff at the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project, we help make this Bicentennial Celebration very special," said Hadler.
"We are delighted with the Power Authoritys support for this exciting and historical event," said Watters.
The Lisbon Homecoming Committee is planning a weekend of events to celebrate the towns Bicentennial on Aug. 17, 18 and 19, 2001. NYPAs donation will be used to help fund the wide variety of major events planned which include fireworks, a parade with marching bands, a horseshoe tournament and the publication of a hardcover history book on Lisbon.
