Developmental Intern
Charles Poletti Power Project

Description:
Our Developmental Intern Program
provides high performing students with the opportunity to gain a
broad view of the New York Power Authority’s role as the nation’s
largest state-owned public power organization. This program, with
critical job experience, is designed to give you a solid foundation
for your career.
As an
intern, you will be assigned a mentor to guide you with challenging
assignments and to help you learn the skills needed in today’s
workforce. While gaining valuable work experience, you will make
real contributions to our organization. Interns will be given
challenging work assignments where they will apply computer and
engineering principles to assist with the organization of plant
drawings and documents at the 500MW. In addition, interns will be
working with key senior engineers to analyze, create and review
designs, and write reports and documents for engineering tasks for
NYPA’s documentation project at our Astoria, Queens location.
Requirements:
We are looking for college
students entering in their second or third year with a minimum 3.0
GPA in an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s degree
program. Solid technical background and advanced knowledge with
techniques and the use of software tools such as Microsoft Word,
Excel, and Project Schedule. Strong written and oral communication
skills are essential. Good organization skills with the ability to
work alone with minimal direction. Understanding of CAD drawings and
some exposure to print reading is desirable. A valid driver’s
license is a mandatory requirement and candidates should be able to
work 15 – 20 hours a week.
