THE CASE FOR
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
State Sen. Wright knows the importance of energy efficiency for a balanced approach to meeting New York’s electricity needs.

As chairman of the Senate Energy and Telecommunications Committee, he has been at the forefront of efforts, led by Gov. George E. Pataki, to make the most of the state’s available generating capacity through the use of the latest energy-saving technologies to lower power demand.

“Energy efficiency is an essential element of New York’s overall energy policy,” Wright said. “Besides lowering electric bills, it reduces the use of old, inefficient power plants and improves air quality by cutting greenhouse-gas emissions from existing generating facilities.
