Vincent C. Vesce

Vincent C. Vesce is executive vice president of
corporate services and administration for the New York Power
Authority (NYPA), the nation's largest state-owned electric
utility. NYPA supplies about one-quarter of New York State’s
electricity and owns 1,400 circuit miles of the state’s high voltage
transmission lines.
He serves on the Power Authority's Executive
Management Committee. His day-to-day responsibilities include
oversight of all Power Authority support services, corporate
procurement and real estate activities for the utility as well as
all of the human resource functions. In addition, Vesce oversees
the activities of the Public & Government Affairs business unit for
the Authority.
He has been an active participant in civic and
community endeavors.
Vesce served on the Peekskill Common Council for 12
years from his initial election in 1981 as councilman. He was
appointed as Mayor by the city's Common Council in May 1991 and,
subsequently elected as Mayor of Peekskill in November 1991.
He served on the board of directors of the
Paramount Center for the Arts, Peekskill, and is chairman of the
center's advisory board. He currently serves as the President of the
Peekskill Industrial Development Agency in addition to being a
member of the board of directors of the Westchester Chapter of the
American Red Cross. He is a two-term past president of the
Christopher Columbus Society as well as being a former member of the
board of directors of the Two-Ten International Foundation.
Prior to joining NYPA in 1997, Vesce had served as
executive vice president of BBC International, Ltd., a footwear
importer and buying agency. Appointed to that position in 1989, he
developed and managed execution of a Court-required business plan
and was responsible for the company's U.S. operations during a
Chapter 11 period. Responsibility areas included cash flow
management, cost control, personnel, budgeting, sales and marketing
initiatives. He started with the company as senior vice
president-sales/marketing in 1987.
Before joining BBC, Vesce was with the Kinney Shoe
Corp, New York. He entered the company's executive training program
in 1970 and rose through several positions to vice
president-merchandise manager of the accessory division. He
received that company's Executive Leadership Award in 1984 among
other honors.
Vesce received a Bachelor of Science degree in
business administration from Bryant College, Providence, R.I., in
1969. He served six years with the Army Reserve National Guard.
He and his wife, Patricia, reside in Peekskill.
They have two adult children, Vincent A. and Kimberly, and three
grandchildren. |
