
The Power Authority voluntarily established its Supplier Diversity Program in 1983 as a way of meeting its varied product and service needs with qualified minority- and women-owned businesses. In keeping with our mission to promote economic development throughout New York State, we are committed to expanding opportunities for Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) participation in our contracting and competitive-bidding processes, both for direct procurement of goods and services and through subcontracting opportunities.
Since establishing this program, the Power Authority has awarded hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts to qualified M/WBEs for various products and services. To be eligible for consideration, firms must meet criteria set by the Empire State Development Corporation's Division of Minority- and Women-Owned Business Development. This agency is responsible for implementing a uniform statewide certification program.
