Hi Res

At the New York Power Authority’s (NYPA) 22nd Annual Purchasing Exchange held June 6, Liza R. Zaneri, president and chief executive officer of Base Technologies, a technical engineering and consulting firm (right) swaps business cards with Sharon Green, NYPA procurement specialist. The Purchasing Exchange is a significant forum for minority and women-owned business enterprises pursuing contracts with purchasing representatives from public and private entities.

Background: The Purchasing Exchange is a significant forum for minority and women-owned business enterprises (MWBE) and suppliers pursuing contracts with purchasing representatives from public and private entities. NYPA operates a multimillion dollar supplier diversity program, under the direction of Debra White, supplier diversity director, to ensure that diverse suppliers actively and successfully participate in NYPA’s procurement process. For New York State’s fiscal year 2011-2012, NYPA awarded $67.6 million of its reportable expenditures to State-certified MWBE firms, exceeding its previous record, set in 2009, by approximately $4.5 million.
