Energy Conservation and Electrical Safety to be Topic of NYPA Presentation Contact: September 29, 2009 MARCY—New York Power Authority (NYPA) community relations specialist, Ann Cianfrocco, will give a presentation on energy conservation and electrical safety at the Holland Patent Free Library on Wednesday, October 7, at 4 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public. All adults in attendance will receive a reusable tote bag containing an energy tips booklet, a compact fluorescent light bulb and foam gasket insulators (one per household, please). NYPA is a leader in promoting energy-efficiency initiatives and is working hard to help meet Governor Paterson’s ’45 x 15’ plan, which aims to have 45 percent of the state’s energy needs met through clean, renewable energy and improved energy efficiency by the year 2015. Currently, NYPA’s energy efficiency efforts at local, county and state government facilities, public schools and state university campuses, save New York taxpayers over $100 million a year and help avoid annual emissions of more than 808,000 tons of greenhouse gases. The electricity saved through these projects each year is enough to serve about 300,000 people—about the population of Buffalo. Ann Cianfrocco works in NYPA’s Frederick R. Clark Energy Center in Marcy, which is the hub of the Power Authority’s power transmission facilities—coordinating electricity flow from its 18 power projects.
