FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LEWISTON—Mark your calendars for free family fun
and environmental enrichment at the New York Power Authority’s
(NYPA) 2009 Wildlife Festival, to be held on Saturday and Sunday,
September 26 and 27, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the grounds of
NYPA’s admission-free Niagara Power Vista.
Hosted in cooperation with the Niagara County Federation of
Conservation Clubs, the Wildlife Festival, now in its 24th year, has
grown to become one of Western New York’s premier events. Annual
favorites from years past, including reptiles, primates and birds of
prey, will be joined by new animals, shows and attractions scheduled
throughout each day. In recognition of National Hunting and Fishing
Day (September 26), more than 50 environmental exhibitors, outdoor
educators and wildlife rehabilitators will be participating. For a
complete list of exhibitors and a schedule of events, visit:
www.nypa.gov/vc/niagara.htm.
Inside the Power Vista, visitors can sample more than 50 interactive
exhibits about hydroelectricity and learn about the historic role it
has played in the Niagara Frontier. Enjoy the breathtaking view of
the Niagara River Gorge from the observation deck. Local youth
groups will offer a variety of refreshments, including hot dogs,
hamburgers and barbecued chicken.
Learn how to make a difference in the environment and improve the
planet both for wildlife and our neighbors. Brownies, Cub Scouts,
Boy and Girl Scouts can even earn a special Wildlife Festival
badge.
The Niagara Power Vista is located at 5777 Lewiston
Road in Lewiston, New York. For more information call (716)
