New York Power Authority to Celebrate Earth Day
at Niagara Power Vista

LEWISTON— In celebration of Earth Day, the New York
Power Authority’s admission-free Niagara Power Project Visitors
Center will feature a full program of green-themed family fun on
Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A variety of local organizations and businesses are
participating in this annual event at NYPA’s Power Vista, with
musical performances throughout the day by Mama Earth’s Kitchen Band
and children’s activities organized by the Lockport YMCA’s Teen
Leaders Club.
The following special presentations are scheduled:

Green Demolition/Landfill Diversion by Buffalo
ReUse – 10:30 a.m.

Stop Targeting Kids by the Erie-Niagara Tobacco
Free Coalition – 11:30 a.m.

Environmental Careers and Pollution Management
by Harris EnvEd – 12:30 p.m.

Saving Energy in Western New York by NYPA’s
Energy Services group – 1:30 p.m.
Other exhibitors include the Buffalo Zoomobile,
Niagara Falls Aquarium, RubberForm Recycled Products, the New York
State Park Interpretive Office and the Erie County Department of
Environment and Planning.
“Saturday’s event is just one more example of the
priority that the New York Power Authority places on
sustainability,” said NYPA President and CEO Richard M. Kessel. “We
hope that families near our Niagara Power Project enjoy this
entertaining and educational festival while taking home some
valuable information about how to have less of an impact on the
environment.”
In addition to the Earth Day events, guests are
invited to enjoy the Power Vista’s attractions, which include
displays and interactive exhibits relating to the production of
electricity, energy efficiency and the area’s history, as well as
spectacular views from the observation deck, 350 feet above the
Niagara River Gorge. Parking and admission at the Power Vista,
located at 5777 Lewiston Road in Lewiston, are always free.
