A variety of local organizations and businesses are participating in this annual event at NYPA’s Power Vista, with musical performances throughout the day by Mama Earth’s Kitchen Band and children’s activities organized by the Lockport YMCA’s Teen Leaders Club.

The following special presentations are scheduled:

  • Green Demolition/Landfill Diversion by Buffalo ReUse – 10:30 a.m.

  • Stop Targeting Kids by the Erie-Niagara Tobacco Free Coalition – 11:30 a.m.

  • Environmental Careers and Pollution Management by Harris EnvEd – 12:30 p.m.

  • Saving Energy in Western New York by NYPA’s Energy Services group – 1:30 p.m.

Other exhibitors include the Buffalo Zoomobile, Niagara Falls Aquarium, RubberForm Recycled Products, the New York State Park Interpretive Office and the Erie County Department of Environment and Planning.

“Saturday’s event is just one more example of the priority that the New York Power Authority places on sustainability,” said NYPA President and CEO Richard M. Kessel. “We hope that families near our Niagara Power Project enjoy this entertaining and educational festival while taking home some valuable information about how to have less of an impact on the environment.”

In addition to the Earth Day events, guests are invited to enjoy the Power Vista’s attractions, which include displays and interactive exhibits relating to the production of electricity, energy efficiency and the area’s history, as well as spectacular views from the observation deck, 350 feet above the Niagara River Gorge.  Parking and admission at the Power Vista, located at 5777 Lewiston Road in Lewiston, are always free.
