FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NORTH BLENHEIMA New York State Safe Boater Certification course will be held on Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the New York Power Authority’s (NYPA) Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Power Project visitors center.

Dennis Downs, a certified instructor with the Northeastern New York Safety & Health Council, Inc., will conduct the free eight-hour course.

To receive the Safe Boating Certificate, participants must complete the classroom session and pass the final exam with a grade of 75 percent or more. They must be at least 18 years old.  New York State charges a $10 administrative fee to obtain the certificate.

Coffee and tea will be served, but those attending should bring their lunch.  Reservations are required because of limited space. Please contact Steve Ramsey, community relations manager at NYPA’s Blenheim-Gilboa facility, at 800-724-0309, to reserve your place.

The admission-free visitors center, open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., is located 17 miles south of Middleburgh on Route 30.
