The PLM portfolio of demand response options includes our flagship Peak Reduction program, and incorporates the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO)-sponsored Special Case Resources, Emergency Demand Response programs, and the Consolidated Edison Company of New York (Con Ed) Distribution Load Relief Program.

Through participation in demand response programs, you are helping to contribute to the reliability of the New York State electricity grid. In addition, you get paid for your efforts, while also getting the opportunity to review, practice and perfect your emergency response processes with the grid providing back-up.

Program Growth:

  • The program has grown from 11 participating facilities in our first year to 125 facilities in 2011.
  • The number of customers participating in PLM has increased from 8 in 2000 to 26 in 2011.
  • Since the PLM program's inception, the load relief offered has increased from 16.9 MW in NYC to 531.5 MW statewide.
