Q: Where will the staging area be for delivery of construction equipment and materials?
A: The selected developer(s) must provide information regarding proposed staging areas for assembly of turbine components and equipment as part of their response to the NYPA RFP for the project. No locations have been chosen at this time.
Q: What are the needs of the offshore wind project when it comes to port and storage capabilities?
A: To meet the requirements of an offshore wind project installation, a port should be able to accommodate large cargo and construction vessels. The port should also have sufficient working and storage area for large parts such as blades, turbine tower sections, and assembly activities.
Q: Will this project require using more than one port in the Great Lakes?
A: The number and location of ports to be used will depend on the location and size of any proposed project(s) selected through NYPA’s RFP, and on the availability of local industrial resources. The developer(s), selected through the NYPA RFP, will make this decision during the project planning stage.
