Operations Shift Supervisor  

Operations Department
St. Lawrence-FDR Power Project
Massena, NY

Description:
In a shift-work capacity, provide first line supervision of Operations bargaining unit employees in the safe and secure operation of the generation, transmission and auxiliary systems of the St. Lawrence-FDR Power Project. The candidate will be responsible for the supervision of operators as they carry out the wide range of responsibilities from generator control to water/generation scheduling to transmission system switching. The candidate will also be responsible for plant ownership on the shift, responding to all operational, environmental and safety issues. The candidate will also be responsible for supporting the 4-Year Apprenticeship Program for the operators and for performing and monitoring on-the-job training of Operators.

This position will be responsible for supporting the Maintenance Resource Management Program and managing the interface between the maintenance organization and the facility operations department. The individual will provide technical support to the operators including initial analysis of disturbances and forced outages.  The individual will also respond to all emergencies, plant fire, accident and personal injury and take prompt corrective action to mitigate the incident.

Requirement:
Bachelors degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years experience working experience in a power plant and transmission operations or substantial technical expertise with ten years experience in utility operation. Must have the ability to identify, logically analyze and generate solutions to complex technical and operational problems. Knowledge of the requirements of the NYISO is desirable. The candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills as well as strong computer skills.
